Library Director, Pamela Sookralli

In her nearly twenty-five years of working at Vaughn College Library, Pamela Sookralli was able to hold all positions from clerical to assistant to the current role of director. She completed her MLIS (Master of Library and Information Sciences) at Drexel University.  She was an integral part of developing the library, transformed from the card catalog system into an advanced integrated system with over thirty thousand physical books and ninety databases. Her preferred database, that the library currently subscribes to, is Statista because of the visual demonstrations of graphs. One of her favorite things at Vaughn Library is hosting diverse events, watching the students socializing and developing friendships is rewarding for her. She concludes with comparing research to ‘almost’ completing a puzzle with one missing piece, you feel satisfaction but there is always space for one more abstract, citation, or reference. Having a front seat at watching students succeed, achieve their academic goals, and prepare for their futures will always be a highlight of her professional career.

Besides being a librarian, she is extremely grateful for her blessed journey with her family. Her son is a second-year student at the University of Chicago and her daughter will soon graduate high school with aspirations to become a nurse. She enjoys traveling with her retired husband.
